BFSI & Financial Services Recruitment in Mumbai

Banking, insurance, NBFC and fintech hiring across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, from branch banking and agency sales to credit, risk, compliance and operations.

Overview

Does Mars Consultancy recruit for BFSI?

Mars Consultancy is a BFSI recruitment agency based in Mumbai, hiring for banks, insurers, NBFCs, broking houses and fintech lenders since 2015. We fill front-office sales, branch banking, credit and underwriting, risk, compliance, collections and operations roles across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai.

BFSI is our strongest sector, and it is also the one where a generalist recruiter does the most damage. A Relationship Manager on the liabilities side and one on the assets side are not interchangeable, a credit analyst who has only seen retail files cannot underwrite an SME book, and someone who has spent four years on a captive process is a different hire from someone who has carried a monthly number. Screening for those distinctions is most of the work.

Mumbai is the deepest BFSI talent market in India, which cuts both ways. There are more candidates here than anywhere else, and every one of them is being called by four other consultants the same week. Speed of scheduling and honesty about the CTC band matter more here than the size of anyone's database.

The hard part

What makes bfsi hiring difficult?

Product experience does not transfer as cleanly as the CV suggests

Two candidates can both be Relationship Managers and share almost nothing. Liabilities versus assets, secured versus unsecured, salaried versus self-employed profiles, HNI versus mass affluent. Each is a different sale with a different cycle. We screen on the product and the customer segment, not the designation, so your panel does not spend the first interview discovering the mismatch.

Regulated roles carry a hard qualification floor

Compliance, risk, internal audit, and anything touching RBI, SEBI or IRDAI reporting has requirements that cannot be negotiated at offer stage, the certification, the specific regulatory exposure, sometimes the exact filing a candidate has actually prepared. We confirm these before a profile reaches you rather than at BGV, where discovering it costs four weeks.

Counter-offers are routine at closure

BFSI has one of the highest counter-offer rates of any sector we hire in, and the drop is worst between offer and joining. We stay in contact through the notice period, keep the reasons for the move on the table, and flag hesitation to you while there is still time to act rather than presenting a clean pipeline that quietly collapses on the joining date.

Volume sales hiring competes with itself

Agency channel, direct sales and collections teams hire continuously across the same catchment, so the same candidate is in three pipelines at once. Bulk drives in this sector work on throughput and follow-up rather than sourcing volume alone, getting candidates to the drive, and to the joining date, is the part that fails.

Use cases

What does a bfsi brief usually look like?

Common shapes of requirement in this sector, and how each one is run. These are illustrative patterns rather than accounts of specific engagements.

An NBFC opening branches across Thane and Navi Mumbai

Leadership Hiring
The brief
Branch managers and relationship managers for several new locations, all needing to be productive from month one, all needing local catchment knowledge.
How we run it
Mapped candidates already selling comparable products within the same catchment, screened on product and customer segment rather than designation, and staggered the shortlists so the panel was not interviewing forty people in one week.

An insurer staffing an agency-channel sales drive

Volume Hiring
The brief
Dozens of sales managers across a defined territory, to a launch deadline, with the usual volume-hiring drop between offer and joining.
How we run it
Ran it as a volume drive with throughput as the measure rather than CV count, pipeline, drive-day coordination and follow-up through to joining, with screening quality held steady as the numbers climbed.

A bank replacing a compliance lead without announcing it

Executive Search
The brief
A senior regulated appointment where the incumbent is still in seat and the search cannot be visible in the market.
How we run it
Handled as a mapped, confidential search, candidates identified and approached directly, the regulatory exposure confirmed up front, and a deliberately short shortlist rather than an advertised process.

Where has Mars hired for bfsi roles?

Across India and in the UAE. Our longest record is in the Mumbai region, and these are the belts where we have hired most for this sector. For most roles below management there, travel time decides whether an offer is accepted, so we screen for it.

FAQs

BFSI hiring, answered

Ask a question
Do you recruit for banks, NBFCs and insurance companies?

Yes. We hire across banking, NBFCs, insurance, broking, asset management and fintech lending, covering front-office sales, branch banking, credit and underwriting, risk, compliance, collections and operations roles.

How long does it take to fill a BFSI role in Mumbai?

Typically 7–30 days from requirement briefing to a suitable candidate closing. Volume sales roles usually close at the faster end; regulated roles such as compliance, risk and internal audit take longer because the qualification and exposure requirements narrow the pool sharply.

Can you handle high-volume BFSI sales hiring?

Yes. Agency channel, direct sales and collections drives are run as volume hiring, pipeline, drive-day coordination and follow-up through to the joining date, with screening held steady as the numbers climb.

Do your recruiters understand BFSI products?

Recruiters are assigned by sector, so the person screening your shortlist knows the difference between liabilities and assets, secured and unsecured, and salaried and self-employed profiles. That distinction is most of what a BFSI screen actually is.

Which locations do you cover for BFSI hiring?

We have hired for BFSI clients across India and in the UAE. In Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai that has included BKC, Lower Parel, Andheri, Malad, the Thane belt and the Navi Mumbai back-office corridor. BFSI mandates in India and in the UAE run from the same desks.

Do you handle confidential senior BFSI appointments?

Yes, through executive search. Senior and regulated appointments where the incumbent is still in seat are mapped and approached directly rather than advertised, with a deliberately short shortlist.
