EdTech & Education Recruitment

Hiring for EdTech platforms, coaching institutes, K-12 schools, test-prep chains and skilling companies across India and the UAE, academic, admissions, content, centre operations and product roles.

Overview

Does Mars Consultancy recruit for EdTech & Education?

Mars Consultancy recruits for EdTech platforms, coaching institutes, K-12 schools, test-prep chains, upskilling companies and training providers across India and the UAE. We hire academic counsellors and admissions teams, faculty and trainers, curriculum and content specialists, centre heads and programme managers, and the product and technology roles behind a learning platform.

Education hiring in India is really three different hiring problems wearing the same industry label. An Academic Counsellor role is a sales role with an admissions cycle attached. A Subject Matter Expert or Curriculum Designer role is a specialist role that only someone who knows the subject can properly assess. A Centre Head role is a P&L and operations role that happens to sit inside a classroom business. We screen each of these against what the job actually is, not against the word 'education' on a CV.

The sector also carries a trust problem that nobody in it can afford to ignore. Years of inside-sales roles being advertised as 'counsellor' positions, with targets and scripts that were never mentioned at interview, have made good candidates suspicious of the title itself. Briefs that are honest about the target, the calling volume, the working Saturdays and the real CTC split between fixed and variable close far better than briefs that aren't, and they stay closed past the third month.

The hard part

What makes edtech & education hiring difficult?

The word 'counsellor' has lost its meaning, and candidates know it

Inside-sales roles advertised as counselling positions have made experienced candidates wary of the title. Offers drop late when the target, the dialling volume or the fixed-versus-variable CTC split surfaces only at joining. We put the real shape of the role (number, working days, incentive structure) in front of candidates during the first conversation, because the alternative is a signed offer that never joins.

Academic-session timing makes hiring windows non-negotiable

Schools, coaching institutes and test-prep centres hire against session starts and batch launches, not against convenient quarters. A faculty seat unfilled when a batch begins cannot be filled later, the batch either runs short-staffed or does not run. We work backwards from the batch date through notice periods, which for school faculty often means starting the search a full term ahead.

Subject-matter depth is only verifiable by someone who knows the subject

A CV cannot tell you whether a JEE Physics faculty member can actually handle a doubt from a strong student, or whether a Subject Matter Expert writing Class 10 Maths solutions understands the syllabus board by board. Screening filters for qualification, board or exam exposure, teaching medium and the specific grade or level. The subject test itself belongs with your academic panel, and we schedule for it rather than around it.

A good teacher and a good content designer are not the same hire

Teaching is live, responsive and performed. Curriculum and instructional design is written, structured and asynchronous, sequencing, learning outcomes, assessment design, video scripting. Many candidates can do one well and the other badly. We separate the two in the brief and screen accordingly, because a strong classroom teacher placed into a content role usually leaves within two batches.

Language and medium requirements narrow the pool sharply

A trainer delivering in Marathi or Hindi medium, a counsellor handling Gujarati-speaking parents in Borivali, a faculty member teaching an English-medium ICSE cohort. These are hard requirements, not preferences. Regional-medium and vernacular delivery cuts an already thin pool further, so we confirm the teaching or counselling language up front rather than discovering the mismatch in a demo class.

Use cases

What does a edtech & education brief usually look like?

Common shapes of requirement in this sector, and how each one is run. These are illustrative patterns rather than accounts of specific engagements.

A test-prep chain staffing counsellors ahead of an admission cycle

Volume Hiring
The brief
A large intake of academic counsellors across several centres, live before the admission season opens, in a market where the title itself makes candidates cautious.
How we run it
Ran as a volume drive with the real role described plainly at first contact (target, calling expectations, working days and the fixed-versus-variable CTC split), so drop-off happened at screening rather than after the offer. Throughput to joining was the measure, not CV count.

An EdTech platform building an in-house content team

Leadership Hiring
The brief
Subject matter experts, curriculum designers and instructional designers across science and maths, needing syllabus depth as well as the discipline to write to a structure and a deadline.
How we run it
Screened separately for subject depth and for design and writing craft rather than treating them as one profile, confirmed board and grade exposure up front, and coordinated a written or sample-task round with the academic panel before the interview stage.

A coaching institute opening a new centre in the Thane belt

Leadership Hiring
The brief
A centre head plus the faculty and front-office team around them, all needing to be in seat before the first batch starts, with local catchment familiarity.
How we run it
Mapped backwards from the batch launch date through notice periods, prioritised candidates already within the catchment, and staggered shortlists so the academic panel could run demo classes without losing a week to back-to-back interviews.

A skilling company replacing its academic leadership discreetly

Executive Search
The brief
An academic head or programme director appointment where the incumbent is still in seat, faculty morale is a live concern, and the search cannot be visible.
How we run it
Handled as a mapped, confidential search, candidates identified and approached directly rather than advertised, with a deliberately short shortlist and the accreditation or UGC/AICTE exposure confirmed before any profile reached the panel.

FAQs

EdTech & Education hiring, answered

Ask a question
Do you recruit for EdTech companies as well as schools and coaching institutes?

Yes. We hire for EdTech platforms, coaching institutes, K-12 schools, test-prep chains, skilling and upskilling companies and corporate training providers, covering admissions and counselling, academic delivery, curriculum and content, centre operations and platform product and technology roles.

Can you hire academic counsellors without mis-selling the role?

That is the point of how we brief. Counsellor and admissions roles in this sector usually carry a target, a calling expectation and a variable CTC component, and candidates have learned to be suspicious of the title. We state the target, working days and the fixed-versus-variable split at the first conversation, so drop-off happens at screening instead of after the offer.

How do you assess subject-matter expertise for faculty and SME roles?

We screen for the verifiable parts (qualification, board or exam exposure, grade or level taught, teaching medium and years in front of a comparable cohort), and then schedule for your academic panel's demo class or written task. The final subject judgement belongs with someone who knows the subject; our job is to make sure only relevant candidates reach that stage.

Can you hire in time for a session start or batch launch?

Yes, provided the search starts early enough. Education hiring runs on session and batch dates rather than quarters, and school faculty commonly serve long notice periods. We plan backwards from the batch date through the notice period, which for academic roles often means beginning a term ahead.

Do you hire trainers who teach in Hindi, Marathi or other regional mediums?

Yes. Teaching or counselling language is treated as a hard requirement, not a preference. We confirm the medium of delivery in the brief and screen for it directly, because vernacular and regional-medium delivery narrows an already thin pool and a mismatch only shows up in the demo class.

Do you hire product and technology roles for EdTech platforms?

Yes, product managers, full stack and mobile developers, UI/UX designers, QA and data analysts for learning platforms. These are screened as technology roles on the stack and product context, with the sector understanding layered on top rather than substituted for it.

Can you handle high-volume counsellor and BDA hiring before an admission season?

Yes, as a volume drive. Pipeline, drive-day coordination and follow-up through to the joining date, with screening quality held steady as the numbers climb, and honest role framing throughout, because in this sector the pipeline collapses between offer and joining rather than at sourcing.
